Love. Lust. – Chapter 5: Waterfalls

TLC – Waterfalls

The mornings are a peaceful time by the lake at my property in Auberon. I’m usually here on the weekends with a few of my kids. I have 2 in Auberon. My son Aries and my daughter Coco. Aries is from my first marriage and Coco was from a fling.

I don’t see them much as my ex wife Fayon thinks I’m a terrible influence on my son. He’s a smart, gifted child who plays basketball and pretty stable. Fayon believes it in her heart that I will somehow ruin him. But I don’t let the bitch stop me from seeing him.  I got rights and took her to court. I get visitation on the weekends.

As for Coco, I don’t see her as much as I should. She adores me and takes after me and that pisses her mother Lacey off. She’s been suspended from school already and the school year just began. Lacey bitches at me saying I need to deal with Coco since she doesn’t listen to her but I’m just too busy with other shit.

When I first met Lacey I told her to not get involved with a man like me. I was too rough around the edges for her cookie cutter life. But she had a thing for bad boys and chased waterfalls. Now she has a child who doesn’t respect her and I’m too busy to care.

Now my property is about to be home to Maddox’s mistake and his ass is paying double for it. This is supposed to be my weekend getaway retreat where I practice my violin in the buff. It pisses off my neighbor but I don’t give a fuck.

“Hello, Cergio this is Vivian our nanny for baby Violet.”

“Hola, Mister Cergio.”

“Be a friend and help Vivian with her bags and get her settled in.”

“Help your own fucking self.”

“It’s okay Mister Cergio. I can get my own bags.”

“No need to be fucking rude, Cergio. She’s our nanny. She cooks, cleans, and will even watch your kids too.”

“I’m not exactly thrilled you’re moving in your bastard child in. I enjoy the peace and quiet on the lake. Your screaming mi-mi will be bothersome.”

“Vivian is instructing to leave when you come with your family or alone. Vivian knows the rules.”

“She does? She isn’t going to ask questions like where is the baby’s mother?”

“Vivian isn’t exactly legal. Too many questions will lead to a phone call to ICE.”

“You wouldn’t.”

“Anything to protect my family and yours.”

“That’s shitty.”

“You would do the same. Don’t give me shit, Cergio.”

Vivan seems nice and too bad she’s wrapped up with Maddox’s shit. She does what she’s told and doesn’t ask questions. She cares for Violet and cares for the lake house.

I can’t believe this asshole gets to be a new father without even trying. Kelly and I been trying to have a baby for a year and failed. It’s almost not fair, why this asshole and not us. His own wife doesn’t know about this child and I don’t know how long he plans on keeping this a secret but I’m not keeping her forever.

There was a knock at the door. Vivian answered it and it was Camille. She is Maddox’s oldest daughter from his first marriage. He’s been married 4 times during his whole lifetime.

He was young when he married Ebony. He left her to marry someone else who died shortly after marriage due to cancer. His third wife left him. I have no idea how he got Petra to marry him and have 2 kids with him.

“Hi dad. I’ve been trying to get a hold of you.”

“Camille, how did you know I would be here?”

“I told her. Start answering your damn phone.”

“I need to talk to you about something important, dad. You been avoiding me for way too long. This can’t wait any longer.”

“Let me guess. This is about money? It’s always about money with you Camille. You only come to me when it’s about money, never to ask how I’m doing or to see your younger sister and brother. How much do you need this time?”

“It’s about my culinary school tuition! You stop paying it! I can’t finish culinary school if my tuition isn’t paid! They called you about it! That’s what I came to talk to you about, dad!”

“Yes, I did stop paying it! Culinary school is a joke! You are smart and gifted! You should be going to school in the field of science like your mother and I did! Until you change career paths, I am not paying for shit! Every since you have gotten with that boy, you, you just threw your life away!”

“I didn’t throw my life away! I’m following my dreams! You don’t like Caleb cause he’s black! You always had a problem with me dating a black man! You won’t even see your grandson Chaz! Guess what dad?! My mom is black too! Is that why you left us?! Do you have a problem with black people, dad?!”

“Don’t be ridiculous Camille. I realize your mother is black! I married her and that’s not the reason why I left, My only problem with Caleb was I didn’t think he was good enough for you. And I was right! He left you with a small child, didn’t he? You could have been something but you decided to throw it all away and get pregnant at 18. I wanted much better for you, Camille!”

“If this is gonna turn into a screaming match then go outside!”

“My dad is being ridiculous, Cergio!”

“The only one who is being ridiculous is you, Camille.”

“You both are.”

“I’m just mad cause I can’t finish school!”

“I’m not paying another red cent for it!”

I left and took my boat out on the lake while Maddox and Camille worked out their differences. It was such a nice fucking day out and I would rather be out on the water than listen to those two brickers back and forth.

I figured things didn’t get smoothed over cause Maddox is an asshole. I asked Vivian to make dinner and I invited Camille over for dinner. I had a plan.

“Thanks for inviting me over for dinner. I didn’t have to worry about cooking today.”

“Well, I wanted to talk to you about something. I figured things didn’t improve with your father.”

“Not at all. He basically told me to drop out of school and find a job since I ruined my life by having Chaz so young. I’m gonna talk to my mom about helping me get a student loan.”

“No need for that. I’ll pay for your tuition.”

“Seriously?”

“Yes. Have I not did things for you in the past?”

“Oh my God! Thank you Cergio! This means a lot to me.”

“Yep.”

“Do I need to pay you back?”

“Not at all.”

“Wow. You know you always been more of dad to me than my own dad has. This takes away my stress. I can relax now.”

“You just owe me a meal after you finish school.”

“Deal!”

I have always been there for Camille since she was a little girl. It’s not because I care about her but I always had a thing for her mother Ebony.

I was involved with her before Maddox came into the picture. I wasn’t ready for anything steady and then Maddox came in and took her. So when Maddox fucks up, I step in to make myself look better and get in good with Ebony. Being the fatherly figure to Camille is my ticket to Ebony’s heart. You see this thing is, I love her.

“It’s so nice of you to pay for Camille’s school. Why the generous offer?”

“I have always been there for Camille. Your ex is a dick. He doesn’t give a fuck about her.”

“You have. That’s true. More than Maddox. I wanna thank you.”

“How?”

“Maybe dinner?”

“I was thinking about we could finally fuck.”

“I don’t know about that. Sex before a relationship isn’t ideal.”

“Haven’t I proven to you that I’m not going anywhere? You’re not chasing waterfalls.”

“I guess so, Cergio but I’m not sure if I’m ready for that.”

“I care about you, Ebony.”

Just one kiss leads to a night of pure passion.

I’ve been waiting for this very moment for years.

When I look into her eyes, I feel nothing but joy. However, she has no clue that I’m married. I don’t wear a wedding band as much as Kelly wants me to. I can’t be branded. But maybe if I was with her, I could.

“I’m about to fucking cum!”

“It’s okay, I’m on the pill.”

“Why?!”

“You seriously gonna question me now?”

“Uhh! Fuck! I’m done. I wish you weren’t.”

“Excuse me? I don’t want a child right now.”

“We’ll talk about this later.”

“What do you want, Maddox?”

“Where are you?! Are you at Ebony’s?”

“Why do you care?”

“You butt-dialed me, you asshole! I heard you fucking my ex wife! You gotta be fucking kidding me, Cergio!”

“So what if I did fucked Ebony? What the fuck are you going to about it? Not one God damn thing! Shut the fuck up!”

“Asshole.”

Love. Lust. – Chapter 4: Everything

Mary J Blige – Everything

Family has always been very important to me. It’s why I am a wife and mother of 4 wonderful teenagers, Cienna, Chloe, Emery, and Ricardo. They are my everything. My husband Antonio may not be the biological father of 3 of my children but he has been the only father my girls had ever known.

I married young and had my twins Cienna and Chloe. Their father is a surfer guy named Travis who is originally from Hawaii but he loved the waves more than he loved me. He left for Hawaii, leaving me with 2 toddler girl alone.

I soon met Emery’s father Gabe. He was a fireman in Bridgeport. We fell in love quick as I always been a hopeless romantic. We were soon engaged before I found out I was pregnant. During the 7 month of my pregnancy, Gabe was called to a house fire in the middle of the night. Gabe didn’t survive the fire and never got to meet his daughter Emery.

I was crush after losing Gabe. I felt helpless as I was a single mother to 3 very young girls without fathers. I moved back to Brightpoint Island where I grew up to be close to my parents. They were a big help with the girls while I got back on my feet.

I opened a dress shop with my mom and that’s how I met Antonio. It was love at first sight. He was a single with 2 boys but they live with their mother. He accepted me and my 3 girls. After we got married, he legally adopted Emery.

My parents Liam and Zinnia are everything to me too. As a little girl, I always dreamed to have a marriage like theirs. It was perfect in my mind as I never saw my parents fight and they always seem to be in love. I tried so hard with Travis but it failed miserably. I cried many nights because I thought I would never have the kind of marriage my parents have. With Antonio, I finally have that.

My parents raised us well and shown us what a healthy marriage looks like. I try to be ideal to my parents but my brothers Borage and Cergio are total dumpster fires. Borage cheats on his wife all the time, Cergio cheats on his sometimes but he also hits his wife. All 3 of us grew up in the same house but turned out so different. How is that possible?

I love my brothers but I really wish they would quit their shit. I don’t tell them how to live their life but I also don’t want to hear about the problems they are having with their “girlfriends”.

I shouldn’t even know about that but they feel they should be honest to me about these other women they have cause I’m their only sister. I feel for Lindy and Kelly, They deserve better men to love them.

My family isn’t perfect. I may not be cheating or have 11 kids like my brother but my family is suffering a huge loss. A year ago we lost our youngest member of our family to a deadly flu virus.

My daughter Octavia was only 6 when she passed away and I haven’t been the same since losing her. She was everything to me like my older children. She was such a daddy’s girl and got her way with Antonio.

Antonio wants to turn Octavia’s room into a room for me to design new dresses in but I can’t find myself to change anything in Octavia’s room. We have been getting into a lot of fights since her death. I feel like he’s trying to remove her from my life but he says he’s trying to help me heal. I don’t see how turning her room into a design room is going to help. I can do that at the shop. I want to keep her room as is.

Today I’m at the dress shop called Felicity’s Day where we sell wedding dresses, prom dresses, formal dresses, and regular dresses. I love working here with my mom and Octavia loved coming here with me. She wanted to work here when she grows up. However, my older daughters aren’t really as interest as Octavia was.

I had hoped they would want to work at the shop but Cienna wants to move to Starlight Bay to be a model or actress. Chloe wants to work in the music business in Bridgeport and Emery wants to be a forensic scientist in Auberon.

I wanted to show the girls my new wedding dress collection called Octavia. I worked many months, had many sleepless nights but I manage to finish in time for the Fall season. I am very happy with my 15 dress collection.

“So how are ya’ll liking the collection, girls?”

There was a silence in the room. I could tell the girls really didn’t want to be there. It was a Sunday afternoon and they rather be out with their friends but I really needed their support today.

“Mom, I really didn’t want to sit here and watch you try on 15 different dresses. Couldn’t you just have shown us the pics? That would have been much faster. Band practice is today. We got a show at The Perc next Saturday. We really need to practice. Ender has been slacking.”

“The dresses were hot mom but there were a few that look very similar. There was one I wouldn’t be caught dead in but most of them are good. I like this one this most. When I model I’m only going to do top fashion but hey bridal is pretty hot too.”

“Wow rude, Cienna. I liked them all, Mom. Very pretty! I think they will all sell!”

“Thanks, Emery.”

“Oh such a suck up, Emery! You have no taste! You like everything. You think Nickelback is a good band and everyone knows they suck!”

“I do too have taste, Chloe! You guys are just mean!”

“We are just giving critiques. That is what you want, mom?”

“In a way, yes Cienna. What do you think Chloe?”

“They are cool but the 6th one was kinda ugly but I mean Octavia would have loved it.”

“Awww, she would. You guys can go now. I’m expecting someone in a bit. Have fun.”

“Finally!”

His name is Clark Queen, a designer from Ciderwood, Montana. who I plan to do business with. He traveled here to show me his collection of wedding dresses that I may add to my shop. He’s also curious about my Octavia collection. If he likes it then his shop will be the first to sell them. I’m both excited and nervous.

“Hello, Mrs. Day. This is a lovely shop you have here. I didn’t have a hard time finding the place. Nice location I must say. Will I be also meeting your mother Zinnia today too?”

“Thanks. You can just call me Celsia. But no it will be just me today. My mom is on a shopping trip to Bridgewood today. It’s nice meeting you, Clark. You look familiar.”

“Oh. Maybe I can meet her tomorrow. I am in town for a couple of days. I would love to meet her too. It’s not needed but I always been a fan of her dresses.”

“It’s cool. You can meet her tomorrow. You must be a fan boy.”

“Definitely.”

“Ha ha ha. I hope I’ll get some fans one day too.”

“So let’s get right down to business. This is my Celine collection. I hope you like it. It’s doing well in Ciderwood.”

“I’ll have a look. Oh wow. These are very nice. I especially love the sweetheart cut.”

“Thanks.”

“Why do you look so nervous?”

“I wasn’t sure if it was gonna be good enough for you and your mother.”

“Don’t be so dramatic. You’re good. The model is pretty.”

“She’s my daughter, Celine.”

“You named your collection after your daughter.”

“Yep. May I see Octavia?”

“She’s not here anymore.”

“What?”

“Oh. You want to see my collection!”

“Um yeah, that’s what I said.”

“Octavia is a nice collection. I would love to have it in my shop.”

“I think that can be arranged.”

“How do you feel about Celine?”

“I Brightpoint would love it.”

“Great! We can work out the details tomorrow with your mother.”

“That sounds good.”

I came home and Chloe was having band practice with her friends and cousin Ada. I don’t mind the racket in my garage. I just love having a lively house again.

When Octavia was alive this house swarmed with little kids running run laughing and playing. My teens couldn’t stand it and they would go to their friends’ houses.

When Octavia got sick the house grew quiet and cold. No more laughter and playing. It just didn’t feel like a home anymore.

It took months before things got back to normal. Instead of little kids, I have teenagers hanging out here all the time. This didn’t sit well with Chloe’s friend Ender’s mom Penny Flake. She wanted to be the cool mom and have kids over all the time. But Chloe said she was starting to get weird cause she would hang out with them and act like she was a teen too.

I’ll listen to the kids play for a bit and then I go do my own thing. I don’t need to be their friend. I only come around when I have snacks to give to the hungry bandmates.

Cienna is a bit boy crazy and has a crush on one of Chloe’s bandmates. She’s usually watching him play and this annoys Chloe. I would hear them arguing but I let the twins work things out.

Her crush is a Yager boy named Brenden. He’s kinda strange to me because he wears fangs like he’s a vampire. But it’s supposed to impress the girls I guess.

The Yagers had their last 6 kids late in their lives and they kinda let their kids do whatever but they are still good kids. Their oldest is my age so I wonder why were they still having kids. Can you believe they had 2 sets of triplets? I heard it was fertility treatments was the reason.

Their oldest, Maddox is my brother Cergio’s best friend. I hope Brenden is nothing like Maddox. He’s kinda shitty like Cergio and I know they are up to some shady shit but I don’t know what it is. I just don’t trust Maddox. I’m friends with Maddox’s first wife Ebony and she knows some dirty things about him.

I’m not sure if I want my daughter involved with Brenden. She likes him so much. But he doesn’t seem like a bad kid. Maybe Regan and Bryn did right with him.

“Hi, Brenden. You played really well. I think you could be the next Jimi Hendrix.”

“Um, thanks but I don’t know who that is.”

“Kurt Cobain!”

“Didn’t he shoot himself.”

“Yeah but that’s not the point I’m making. Oh my gosh, you’re super cute!”

“Thanks. Not bad yourself.”

My niece Ada comes a lot and Cergio asked us to keep an eye on her. He doesn’t trust Ender around his daughter because he already has a daughter himself. I can understand Cergio doesn’t want Ada to be baby mama number 2 but my mom is raising her and Ada will be fine.

Ender is a good boy, he made a mistake once and he’s learning from it. Ada told me he wants to take things slowly but Cergio doesn’t care. He just doesn’t him to see her.

As long as Ada is not living under his roof, my brother really can’t say shit. My mom said either he moves her in or stop trying to break them up. Trying to forbid love is not going to work. God forbid he has the birds and bees chat with her. Cergio only shows up when he feels like it. My kids are everything, his kids are burdens.

“We’re just playing foosball. Nothing funny.”

“I know but I don’t want Cergio to kick my ass.”

Since it was Sunday it was time to make Octavia’s favorite meal. Grilled fish with potatoes. I make this every Sunday every since she died and I love making it. Cooking this meal makes me feel happy and good inside.

“I met Clark today and he loved the collection. It’s gonna be in his shop on Ciderwood.”

“Fish again?”

“I always make grilled fish on Sundays. It’s Octavia’s favorite.”

“She’s dead mom. Cooking this isn’t gonna bring her back.”

“Ricardo!”

“I’m sick of it dad! Everything is about Octavia! What about us?”

“I can’t eat this anymore. I’m getting Uber Eats.”

“Kids, sit down and eat!”

“No! I’m not gonna sit here and eat this graveyard food anymore! Only Octavia liked this and no one else does!”

“I said sit down and eat the meal that your mother made!”

“It’s okay Antonio. Let them go order food.”

I was shocked how my kids acted at dinner. I didn’t know they were bothered so much. I thought they enjoyed eating Octavia’s favorite as much as I did but my kids did have a point.

What about them? Everything has been about Octavia. My collection, my meals, and I even make everyone watch all her favorite movies on movie nights. We haven’t seen anything new in a year.

I’m a horrible parent. I’m putting one child before the others and not thinking about their feelings. How could I do this them when I say they are my everything? All I do is think about Octavia and wonder how she would be today.

“How are you holding up? The kids didn’t mean what they said.”

“I’m a shit mother. I’ve been a shit mother towards them.”

“No, you haven’t. You are a wonderful mother. They are just fucking rude.”

“No sweetie, they have every right to be mad. Everything has been about her.”

“Not true.”

“I just miss her so much.”

“I know and I miss her too. We all miss her but I think cooking her meal every Sunday might be a bit much. Maybe you think about getting some counseling.”

“Counseling? You think I need it?”

“Honestly you haven’t been handling her passing as well as the others. With Chloe it was music, Cienna, blogging, Emery, photography, Rico, gaming, and me, cooking.”

“I made a collection.”

“I know and that’s good but look what use you’re doing. Keeping her room isn’t helping.”

“Don’t touch her room!”

“Okay, but one day will have to. We talked about having another baby.”

“Another baby? We can’t replace her!”

“We won’t replace her. But we always talked about having another baby before we lost Octavia.”

“I won’t replace her!”

We argued for a while after he brought up having another baby. This has been a fight we been having for the last 6 months. He wants another baby but I don’t. I want Octavia. If I could have one thing it would be to have Octavia back.

Love. Lust. – Chapter 3: Ask Me

Escasty, Passion & Pain – Ask Me

The evening was Friday, the evening of my show in Auberon. I haven’t played in Auberon in a while so naturally, I was excited. I was hoping to there much earlier so I could spend some time with Mordecai but my time with my oldest daughter Phoenix ran over. I took her on a shopping trip since she already made honor roll. School has only been in session for a week and I couldn’t be any more prouder of her.

It’s also my 15th anniversary and Lindy isn’t very happy with me. I promised I’ll make it to her. I have a special day planned out for Saturday. Dinner, dancing, and a carriage ride to the downtown park. I think she’ll love it. I’m playing it cool and keeping it secret but she knows I’m up to something.

I especially can’t wait to see Nakia tonight. I hope it would be like old times. We dated back in high school. We were high school sweethearts but after she had a miscarriage our Junior year we just drifted apart. I didn’t comfort her like I should have done. Instead, I just wanted to be with my friends and drink. I didn’t really care about the baby, I felt it was for the best because I wasn’t ready. But I was never ready to be a dad. My first child Bruce was born on my 20th birthday then my second child Phoenix was born 6 months after him. My first two baby mothers Sonoko and Louis hate each cause I was dating them at the same time. Needless to say, they both left me when they found out about each other.

I did start dating a girl named Fran afterward and things were getting serious. She had my third child named Leda but got pregnant again when Leda was 6 weeks old and had twins Sapphire and Orianna. We broke up when the girls were a year and then I met Lindy. Lindy was never a fan of Fran and didn’t see what I saw in Fran but we remained friends. One day when the girls were 4, Lindy handed me a letter from Fran saying she didn’t want me around anymore and she and the girls will be fine. I questioned the letter but I was young and decided to grant her wishes. My girls are 15 and I still think about them.

A special show deserves a special outfit. I’m thinking of my famous suit. The ladies love seeing me in my suit although other DJs think it’s too formal. I like to stand out a bit and plus I think Nakia would love seeing me in a suit. She’ll see how much I grew up since high school.

The house is quiet, no one was there to tell me bye or anything. The kids were in their rooms, Lindy was ignoring me, Flo was having her daily chat with her mom. I wasn’t bothered at all. It was fine, no one would ruin my suit after all.

It’s a 45 minute drive from Bridgeport to Auberon and I decided to treat Nakia by driving her there. This is my first time to her house and I see she has done well for herself.

“Aren’t we looking dapper tonight? You look very nice, Borage. Welcome to my home.”

“Thanks. You’re looking fine as ever, the dress is longer than I what like but you look good in anything you put on.”

“Oh stop. Nate will hear you.”

“So what if he does?”

“I’ll have to go to the hospital to visit and then the jail to bail him out.”

“It’s worth it.”

“Boy stop. Ha ha ha!”

“I’m serious.”

“Same old Borage. The flirt.”

“Yep.”

The conversation was cut short when her daughter Nicole appeared. She’s the same age as Bora, Luna, and Mordecai. She’s in the same class as Bora cause Bora talks about her. They are already friends.

“You’re Bora’s dad! I saw you yesterday!”

“Yep and you’re pretty like your mama.”

“Thanks. What’s a DJ? My mom said you’re one.”

“A DJ is someone who plays music and makes people dance at parties and clubs.”

“Cool! I like dancing but my daddy can’t dance very well. He looks silly, he dances like a sim!”

” Ha ha ha, funny.”

“Speaking of your daddy, go get him. We need to get. I want to tell your daddy bye.”

“Okay, mom!”

“We’re going, hun.”

“With the suit?”

“Yes with the suit.”

“Um okay. Have fun.”

“I will. Put the girls in bed in an hour.”

“I know. I got a night of binge drinking and gaming to do. I wanna do that alone.”

“I love you, Nate.”

“I love you too, Kia.”

I used to call her that. It’s kinda hard seeing this to be honest.

We arrived at The Grudge in Auberon. It doesn’t look like much and it lives up to its name. It’s grudgy alright. I thought Clarissa would have booked me a better club but I’ll take it if they are paying me a grand.

After mingling with a few party goers and some drinks I start my set. Playing one fire track after another and getting this night pumping.

I felt the energy, the vide of the room. Making sure I kept the dance floor jammed packed.

Banger after banger, this night was going right.

I’ve could have been a personal trainer at a gym. A job that my dad rather have me have. He was never supportive of my DJ career. Even though I produce music too, he’s still not supportive and thinks I should get a real job. I’m getting famous but dad doesn’t care. My brother Cergio is a violinist and my dad supported that but never my DJing. With my mom, things are different. She’s very supportive. She’s my biggest fan.

I took a break while the club’s resident DJ played. Nakia took this time to interview me.

“Ready for the interview?”

“Interview. Sounds so formal. How about you just ask me things and I’ll answer.”

“That’s what an interview is, B.”

“This is supposed to be a date. Want a drink? Want to drink?”

“I have a series of questions I need to ask you. This isn’t really a date. You know I’m married. You met my husband, Nate.”

“I like to think of this as a date.”

“What made you want to be a DJ?”

“I always liked to play music at parties since I was a kid. My parents always threw parties when I was growing up. My Aunt Rosette got me my first turntable set on my 9th birthday and I’ve been DJing since then. Ya know my Aunt Rose is married to the famous singer Finn G.”

“Seriously? I love his songs.”

“Yep. Good old Uncle Finn.”

“With your latest album Forever, what was the inspiration behind it?”

“It was about someone special. Someone who was special and who still special to me. I reject how things turned out. I was stupid and selfish, not caring about her needs. I was so caught up with other shit that I couldn’t see what I had in front of me until it was gone. But I still hold her in my heart because she will always remain special to me forever.”

“Wow, that’s deep.”

“You know who I’m talking about?”

“I could use a drink. Mmm yeah.”

“Really?”

“Yeah and maybe we can dance a little. I still have more questions.”

“I’ll go get you that drink.”

“Thanks.”

One drink turned into 4 but not before she finished interviewing me. The drinks loosen her up a bit because before I knew it she was dancing on me and I was loving every second of it.

Nakia was having a great time with me but I had a treat in store for her.

I get signed a few autographs that night. It’s pretty awesome every time I sign one. Nakia’s sister Danica wanted one and I was happy to get her one and my number in case she wanted to chat. Let’s be honest, I always thought her sister was hot.

I also do the vocals in my tracks and sang one of the tracks from my latest Forever that’s titled Forever. I watched Nakia’s eyes moved to tears as she knew this track along with the album was about her. I reject losing her.

She was speechless when I approached her. I gently held her close to me. It’s been ages since I held her like. I’m feeling a way that I haven’t felt in ages. I don’t feel this way with Flo or my wife. This is a feeling that I’ve been missing and I find myself reevaluating my feelings towards Flo. Am I ready in love with her or do I just love the sex? She believes Forever is about her and I let her believe that. Lindy believes Forever is about me and I let her believe that too. I know Forever is about Nakia and I believe it’s what my heart wants. But can I have her once again?

“I know it’s about me. I always knew.”

“Then you’ll understand that I want to kiss you.”

“Borage, I can’t.”

“I don’t see you pulling away.”

“Borage! What the fuck?! You are seriously ignoring me now? Who is this?”

“Hey Clar-Bear, what’s up?”

“Don’t Clar-Bear me! Why are you ignoring me?!”

“I’m not ignoring you. I just haven’t been checking my phone. I didn’t know you were coming.”

“I wanted to surprise you. I see you’re busy.”

“This is Nakia, she’s been interviewing me.”

“I didn’t know an interview requires kissing. So I see you already moved on.”

“You were the one who left me, why you tripping? Besides she and I are just friends.”

“I’m sorry, I just assume. You two seem to be really close tonight.”

“There’s nothing going on. Besides its none of your business, you made your made up.”

“I guess you don’t wanna hang out.”

“Not if you’re gonna be that way. We can all hang out.”

“No thanks. See you around. Nice set by the way.”

“Thanks.”

“You care to explain what was that?”

“An ex but she’s also my agent.”

“Your ex is your agent but you’re married?”

“It’s complicated. Now, where were we?”

“It’s getting late. I should get an Uber and head home. My toddler wakes up very early.”

“I can drive ya back.”

“No. I think its best if I get an Uber but I had a great night.”

“One more drink before you go?”

“A shot.”

“I’ll take it.”

I got home pretty late. I stayed till late then went to an after party at Danica’s. I was greeted at the door by Flo.

“You’re home late. I was getting worried. You never stayed out this late before.”

“Shit I didn’t know I had a curfew. I was in Auberon it’s a long drive. I stayed until closing then went to an after party. Then I also got some bomb ass tacos if you were wondering.”

“You smell like you been around woman. Who is she? How long have you been seeing her? Am I not good enough for you?”

“Look, I’m tired. Lindy is still up and I need to go be with her. I can’t do this with you.”

“Who is she?”

“Good night, Flo.”

“What took you so long, Papi.”

“Tacos.”

“You silly Papi. I have a spicy taco for you.”

“You do?”

“Si, Papi.”

“Lemme have that taco.”

I don’t know what’s going on with Clarissa and Florance. I don’t know why are they acting jealous tonight. The only one who isn’t acting crazy is Lindy and decided she deserved my attention. I’m bitter I didn’t get to kiss Nakia when I was so close but I can’t help but think how different the night would be if Clarissa didn’t ruin it.

As I made love to my wife Lindy, all I could do was think about Nakia the whole time. I pretended Lindy was Nakia and it was the best sex we ever had so far. I don’t even feel guilty.

“It took you long enough, Cergio.”

“Shut the fuck up, Maddox.”

“She’s quite pretty. Prettier in person than she is in the picture.”

“Well, she isn’t light.”

“Put her down, gently. Don’t hurt her.”

“Speak for yourself, asshole.”

“She’s what you wanted. Young, fit, blonde, drug free, no family here, new to town but she has a lot of followers on her social media.”

“The social media thing may be a problem but other than that she’s a perfect specimen. Name?”

“Do you care?”

“I need to make a file.”

“Shila Shilo, age 21. Originally from Riverview. Lives in Brightpoint Island.”

“Perfect.”

“I guess. What are you going to do with her?”

“That’s my business, Cergio. No need to worry about that. I will wire you your payment to your bank in one business day. It’s good doing business with you.”

“Yeah.”

“Did you toss her phone?”

“I’m not a fucking idiot. Of course, I did.”

“Depends where you did.”

“In Brightpoint Island.”

“Good.”

“Please! Let me go. I’ll give you anything you want. Just please let me go!”

“Oh, sweetheart you will give me something that I want. Your body.”

“Wh-what?”

“Now be a good girl and take your clothes off.”

“No! Get your hands off me!”

“Don’t fight, you’ll just make things harder on yourself!”

“Please! Stop! No! Please stop!”

“Cergio! Help me get her into the cell!”

“Shit, man.”

“Get her on the bed!”

“Again with this shit?!”

“Just do it, there’s an extra 10 grand in it for you!”

“Fine!”

“Please! Please! Noooooooooooo!”

“Did you have to fucking rape her?”

“Did you have to fucking watch?”

“Like I had a fucking choice. That shit is fucked up. She’s someone’s daughter. You have a daughter.”

“Yeah? You helped too. You have a fucking daughter too. What if someone kidnapped her?”

“Fuck you.”

“Yeah, so let’s not talk about shit. However, I am feeling very generous. Would you like to have a go at her too? She’s fucking lovely.”

“She’s been through enough and besides I don’t do sloppy seconds. She isn’t my type. She’s not a mother.”

“You’re an odd one. I prefer mine untapped.”

“Right. I gotta get. Ada’s birthday is tomorrow and my mom is throwing her a party.”

“Tell your mother I said hi.”

“Fuck you, asshole.”

10 months later

“The whereabouts of 21 year old now 22-year-old Shila Shilo is still unknown. She was last seen at the Club Aquarius in Brightpoint Island. If you have any information on the disappearance of Shila Shilo please contact the local authorities.”

“Daddy?”

“Yeah?”

“If I ever go missing will you come find me?”

“You will never go fucking missing. I’ll fucking make sure of that.”

“Okay, daddy!”

I know where Shila is. I’m the reason why she’s missing but she’s fine. Well maybe fine isn’t the word but she’s alive at least. Maddox hasn’t harmed her since that night I brought her into his secret lab. Maddox’s dumb ass got her pregnant the night her raped. I knew she was ovulating, I could tell the way she was moving her body on the dance floor. Her body was ready for a baby rather she knew it or not. Truth be told I was a little turned on until Maddox mounted himself on top of her. I didn’t warn him, I wanted him to finally learn a lesson about trying to use his dick to control his victims.

Shila isn’t the first girl I abducted for Maddox. There were 4 others before her. They were either homeless or prostitutes, he wanted women who no one would look for. However, these women were addicted to drugs and didn’t survive Maddox’s “treatments”. He won’t tell me what he does but he pays me and keeps my businesses running. I scratch his back if he scratches mine.

Shila’s followers contacted the authorities when she stopped posting. She has no ties to her family so they never reported her missing. Now she’s been reported missing for the last 10 months and this is becoming a problem.

“Why do you even care about this missing girl?”

“Shut the fuck up!”

“You always watching the news when she’s mention. I’m so fucking tired of hearing about the bitch! She’s probably at some trap house in Auberon.”

“Fuck off, Kelly! I can’t hear the fucking TV!”

“You never pay attention to me, Cergio!”

“I’m about to put my dick in your mouth!”

“Don’t talk like that around Desire!”

“Hey sweetie go get dressed and play outside.”

“Okay daddy but can we go to Brightpoint Island and see grandma and grandpa today?”

“Yeah, sure.”

“Yes!”

“Seriously Cergio, what’s going on with you? You been kinda distance for the last 10 months. Is because we haven’t gotten pregnant yet? I don’t know what’s going on with my body.”

“You’re taking a fucking long time to get pregnant.”

“Can you be a little more supportive, asshole?”

“Suck on my dick. It might make you feel better.”

“Sucking you off isn’t gonna get me pregnant.”

“Yeah? It feels fucking amazing.”

“Choke on it, make it sloppy. Yeah, that’s a good girl.”

“Yes baby, it feels good.”

“Fuck that’s right!”

“Put a baby in me, daddy!”

“I’m about to fucking cum!”

“Give it all to me, daddy!”

We didn’t know it at the time but we made something amazing that day. The bitch finally got pregnant.

8 weeks later

But things changed..

“You fucking bitch! You had one fucking job and that was be pregnant and you couldn’t do that! You loss the fucking baby?! Are you fucking kidding me?!”

“I’m sorry Cergio but the doctor said sometimes these things happened!”

“I don’t give a fuck what the doctor said! No one has ever miscarried my baby! Was it even mines?”

“Of course was! You know I would never do that to you, Cergio!”

“I oughta beat the shit out of you!”

“Cergio! Please! You’re hurting me!”

“Daddy? Mommy?”

“Fuck! Get the fuck outta here, Kelly. Hey sweetie.”

“Did the baby die?”

“Yeah, go play.”

Maddox has been calling me nonstop for a week but I have been ignoring him. I figure I’ll finally talk to him and see what he wants but I know it’s about Shila and the baby they had. He hasn’t been keeping it together since the baby was born.

“It’s about time you answered.”

“What the fuck you want?”

“It’s about baby Violet. I can’t keep her at the lab.”

“Duh.”

“Don’t be a smartass.”

“How am I supposed to help?”

“I know you have property here in Auberon. Perhaps baby Violet could stay there with a live in nanny.”

“I bring my family there.”

“We’ll leave whenever you bring in your family.”

“What if the nanny askes questions?”

“That’s what extra money is for.”

“How am I going to explain a whole ass nursey to my wife?”

“Isn’t she expecting?”

“She lost the fucking baby.”

“My condolences. You will try again?”

“Yes.”

“Then Violet’s nursery will be your baby’s room.”

“You got it all figured out, asshole?”

“I am a genius.”

“Right if so then we wouldn’t be having this conversation, asshole.”

“I’ve had a few miscalculations. And I hope there’s no connection to us from Shila’s disappearance. Your trail is clear?”

“Crystal clear like crystal meth.”

“Very well then. Goodbye, Cergio.”

“Bye.”

Love. Lust. – Chapter 1: You’re The One

SWV – You’re The One

I am a man with big dreams and a big family. An up and coming EDM DJ and music producer, a husband with 11. You may be saying my wife and I had been busy however 3 of my 11 belong to her. I was a very busy man before my wife Lindy. I had 5 kids with 3 different women before meeting Lindy. Early in my DJ career I was careless and drank a lot. I slept with a lot of women and my brother felt it was time to shapen up and set me up with Lindy. She’s beautiful and all but when she got pregnant with triplets, Cergio suggested I marry her.

However, I stepped out on Lindy a few times and it’s how I got my twins Bora and Luna. I met their mom at one of gigs in Bridgeport. She was beautiful, sexy, and smart. I loved seeing her dance during my set. I learned she was a dancer but I didn’t discriminate. She was paying her way through medical school but then I ruined things. She got pregnant. I wasn’t sure how to tell Lindy but I had no choice after she gave birth and died afterward due to a blood clot. I had to take in the twins, it took time but Lindy forgave me.

We worked on our problems and was doing well until I received a “this is your son” text 9 months after Bora and Luna were born. I stepped out again but with a Pharmacist from Auberon. My son Mordecai was born to a lady name Alayna. Lindy was heartbroken but I swear there wasn’t any other women I’ve been with since. Alayna was the last one and I don’t remember much about her. It was a one night stand and apparently, I gave her my number. Lindy forgave me.

I’m receiving a call from the mother of my youngest child, a child Lindy doesn’t know about because I can’t bear t break her heart once again. Clarissa had my son Raiden who is almost a year old. I’ve been keeping this secret for so long now. Not even my kids know they have a new little brother. Although Charissa lives in Bridgewood, she books most of my gigs. She’s my agent and that’s how Raiden happen. Clarissa has promised she won’t tell Lindy about Raiden but I think she’s losing her patience.

“Hey Clar, what’s?”

“I have a gig for you but it’s Auberon.”

“Oh cool! When? Dets?”

“Well it’s next Friday and I know that’s your anniversary. However, I think this will be really good for you.”

“Yeah, yeah I’m down! Much pay am I getting paid tho?”

A grand but are you sure? Would Lindy be okay with it?”

“She’ll be fine. I’ll work something out.”

“Oh okay, I just don’t want to step on any toes.”

“You good Clar-Bear.”

“Borage, when do you plan on seeing Raiden?”

“Clar, I don’t know. I’ve been really busy though.”

“You haven’t seen him in almost a month. He misses his dad. You need to see him.”

“You know I can’t just jump in my car and drive to Bridgewood without giving Lindy a reason why. Just move here.”

“We talked about this B. You know I can’t afford to move to Bridgeport. Plus I have my dad here. He’s a big help with Raiden. It’s not I can just drop him off there when you still haven’t told Lindy about him.”

“I’m working on it.”

“It’s been over a year. He’s 10 months old now. How long are you gonna wait to tell her? When he’s 20? His siblings don’t even know about him, B.”

“I know and I’m sorry but I said I’m working on it. I’m gonna tell Lindy one day. Just bear with me.”

“I dunno but Raiden needs his father. I need to go. Talk to you later.”

“Okay. Bye Clar.”

“Bye.”

I know Clarissa is right, I need to be in Raiden’s life more but breaking Lindy’s heart again isn’t an option right now. I listened to my children playing outside while I had a drink on the balcony with Clarissa’s words echoing in my mind. There was a time where I thought I could be with Clarissa.

We have a close friendship and we spend a lot of time together since she books my gigs and promotes my shows. I thought maybe she could be the one although my heart isn’t fully committed to Lindy. In a way, my marriage was an arrangement set up by my brother so I wouldn’t destroy my career with “loose women” as my brother described it.

Things changed when she got pregnant with Raiden. She didn’t want to be the other woman and I didn’t want to leave Lindy, so she ended things. Clarissa has moved on but sometimes I wished she didn’t. I still think about. The main reason why I haven’t seen Raiden is because it’s hard to be around her and not be with her.

“Daddy! Daddy! Come play with us!”

I hear Luna yelling from the front yard.

“Coming!”

I shouted back after taking my last sip from my cup.

I peeked over the balcony to see Bora upset. It’s her first weekend without her best friend and cousin Desire, Cergio’s daughter. Cergio’s wife Kelly and Desire usually come over every weekend so the girls can play. However, Kelly has a habit of openly hitting on me in front of Lindy and they almost get into fights over it. I don’t know if Kelly does it to get under Lindy’s skin or she’s really attracted or it’s just both.

Lindy banned Kelly from the house because she has had enough. The kids don’t understand why but it’s really for the best. Plus I’m tired of Kelly cause she drinks all of my vodka then yells at me to go get more. We finally have a peaceful weekend for once.

“Daddy, why can’t Desire and Aunt Kelly come here anymore?”

“Because Aunt Kelly is well very friendly to your daddy.”

“Isn’t that a good thing?”

“Yes but she’s also mean to mommy.”

“Mommy is mean to Aunt Kelly too.”

“Okay but Aunt Kelly needs to spend time with Uncle Cergio.”

“When do I get to see Desire? Do I get to see her anymore?”

“You’ll see Desire again. You’ll be starting school with her and then you both get to play at recess.”

“But what about the weekends? I wanna see Aunt Kelly too. She’s funny when she drinks.”

“Well you only get to see her if we go to Uncle Cergio’s or your Grandparents.”

“Really?”

“Promised.”

“Yay!”

“You handled that well. She’s been asking questions about her cousin.”

“Thanks. I was gonna leave it to Lindy but she’s taking a nap.”

“I just love seeing you be a dad. It’s a turn on.”

“You turned on? Well is there something I can do for you?”

“Possibly.”

“The kids are playing and Lindy is down for a nap. I say it’s time for a weekend jam session.”

“Maybe you’re right.”

I love my jam sessions with the nanny, Florance. They are hot as fuck. I needed to clear my mind for a bit because I’ll need to tell Lindy about my next gig that falls on our 15th anniversary. Maybe I’ll take her with me. It’s not like I had planned anything for next Friday. I think it would be fun.

It may not look like it but things are deeper between Flo and me. She’s been our nanny since Bora and Luna were babies. Lindy never came to terms with raising Bora and Luna. She hired Flo when the twins were 6 weeks old. The twins see Flo more as their mom than Lindy although they call Lindy mommy. But I got close to Flo when Clarissa ended things with me. I needed someone and Flo were there for me. It’s not just sex with the hot nanny.

It’s love. I’m in love with her.

“What was that?”

“It’s nothing, Love. Come closer.”

“You know we can’t keep doing this. What if we get caught?”

“We won’t.”

“Can’t you just leave her?”

“Working on it. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“Borage Lamar Montigo! I know what you did!”

“What are you talking about?”

“Don’t play dumb, chico!”

“You sneak! Serpiente! You didn’t think I was gonna find out about your secreto!”

“What are you talking about, Lindy. Spill.”

“I know about your curro! Your show! On our 15th aniversario! Seriously Borage?!”

“I’m sorry, babe.”

“Lo siento, imbécil!”

“Um okay.”

“Why would you do such a thing? What about our plans?”

“I thought maybe you could go. You haven’t been to any of my shows in ages.”

“Aye Dios mío! Seriously? There’s nothing romantic about going to your curro!”

“I’ll make it up to you.”

“Promesa, Papi?”

“Promise.”

“You need to run these by me.”

“Clar said this would be a good gig.”

“Clar is not your wife. Clar doesn’t know what’s good for you. I know what’s good for you, Papi.”

“I don’t complain when your agent books your shows. Why do you always complain about mine?”

“I don’t do shows on anniversaries.”

“You complain about my other shows too.”

“Only because you do one every weekend and don’t spend time with me.”

“I spend time with you. You knew I had a busy career like you do too. I’m a DJ and you’re a singer, you should know how things are.”

“You spend a lot of time with Flo when you’re home.”

“You’re always on your phone Instagramming or Facebooking. And she’s like my best friend.”

“I’m your best friend, Papi.”

“Hmmm.”

“Anyhoo, I think you should take Liam to the field and have him practice his soccer. He’ll never be a soccer star sitting in his room playing those video games.”

“Okay.”

Our son Liam is far from being a soccer star. Lindy is hard on him only because she viewed Alayna’s Instagram and saw pics of Mordecai playing soccer in Auberon. Mordecai is a soccer star and Lindy is jealous. Liam is a chess genius but it’s not good enough for Lindy. She rather have him be athletic like me and Mordecai than a genius in chess. She came from a family of soccer player and Liam must carry the passion on.

I love my son but he’s terrible.

“Okay but let’s try not to fall this time. Focus on the ball. Keep your eyes on it!”

“Ugh! Dad, why?! Why me? If you’re wanting an athletic son then focus on Morde. I hate this.”

“It’s what your mom wants!”

“What about what I want? Don’t I get a say?”

“Here we go!”

“No!”

“That was awesome!”

“How was that awesome, dad? I missed it!”

“I’m cheering for me. That was awesome!”

“This isn’t fun! I wanna stop!”

“Okay.”

“Why is mom so hung up on me playing soccer? Doesn’t she know I’m terrible at it.”

“Family thing.”

“I like to play chess, video games, and do math. Why can’t I just do those things?”

“It doesn’t bother me that you wanna be a full nerd. I have Bruce and Morde to play sports with. It’s just your mom is pushing this on me too.”

“Why do you stay with her? Obviously, you’re not fully committed to her.”

“What makes you say that?”

“I know about Flo. WE know about her.”

“We?”

“Me, Lilah, and Leilani.”

“For how long?”

“Some months. It’s not fair to mom. It’s not fair to you either dad. I see how happy you are when you’re with Flo. You and mom fight all the time. We understand if you divorce but if that happens, please don’t make us live with her.”

“Why?”

“I don’t wanna play soccer. Lilah doesn’t want to wear dresses and take violin, Leilani doesn’t want to be in choir. She’s trying to make us be stars too but we just wanna be normal teens.”

“I thought Lilah liking playing the violin and Leilani enjoyed singing. Your mom just wants you all the be talented.”

“I have 2 left feet. There’s no way I can ever play soccer, dad. Can you talk to her?”

“I’ll try but she might not listen.”

“Please, dad.”

“Okay.”

I’m the resident DJ at Dynasty. I love my job. I love playing music and making the crowd dance.

I feel the music is my soul. It’s such a fucking great release whenever I play.

I especially keep my eyes on any sexy lady I see dancing near my booth. Playing attention to every curve on her body as she twists around in joy and laughter. But tonight I saw an old face, a sweet face, a face I love to see.

“Well hello there. Isn’t it the infamous Nakia Love as I live and breathe.”

“Hello, Borage.”

“Damn you fine.”

“Thanks but you been ducking my calls. Why?”

“I’m sorry baby but all my calls been going to my agent, Clarissa but if you need my number, I’ll gladly give it to you and then some.”

“I’m married, Borage.”

“So am I but you always been the one for me, Nakia.”

“Save it. You haven’t changed much since high school.”

“You’re still as sexy as ever. Why hit me up though?”

“Your Bridgeport’s hottest EDM DJ and producer. My boss is on my ass about getting an interview with you.”

“An Interview? We can arrange that. We can go on a date like old times and you can interview me.”

“A date is not needed.”

“Remember those dates I use to take you on? So hot.”

“Yeah, and I got pregnant once. Thank goodness for the miscarriage or I wouldn’t have the career I have today.”

“I wonder if our baby had lived.”

“You wouldn’t be BP’s hottest DJ today.”

“So about that date?”

“Fine but no funny stuff. I am a married woman with 2 kids and have a successful journalism career. We dated back in high school and that was the past.”

“I can’t make any promises.”

“Promise me, Borage.”

“Okay, okay. I promise. Next Friday in Auberon I have a show, we can have it after that.”

“Great!”

Soundtrack: Chapter 1 – I’m A Believer

Track 1: Eric Wikman Ft Donna Washington – I’m A Believer

My name is Lanai Montigo and I live in Bridgeport, CT. I’m 15 years old and starting my sophomore year at the Applegate Academy. I’m the last born in a set of triplets, Liam and Lila. There’s nothing special about me. I’m just some rich girl at my school. I have more money than the average person so you’ll think I’m happy and spoiled just like any other rich girl. But that’s far from the truth. Money can’t buy everything.

Yeah, I live in a big fancy house in the suburbs just outside of Bridgeport. What do you expect when both of your parents are famous music artists. My dad, a DJ, singer, and producer. My mom, a singer since she was my age. My parents are well known and of course, the public knows who about my siblings and me since we were born. We were just days old when we showed up on the cover of a popular magazine. We grew up in the limelight but now as teens, we are slowly fading away from the public’s eye. There’s nothing really special about us and my our doesn’t post pics of us on her Instagram as much as she did when we were kids.

“You’re not extraordinary. Just a rich girl, plain and boring.” Those words from my mom echoed in my head. She’s displeased cause there’s nothing special about me. No talent, nothing unique, not even a birthmark. Just ordinary.

With the first day of school coming up and I felt like I need to stand out. Liam is a star student, a chess champ, math whiz, gaming champ, and my mom is proud of it. Lila may act odd or dress strangely but even she has special. Lila is a well known Youtuber with thousands of subscribers. She live steams her gaming with funny content, goes on wild adventures, and does make up tutorials.  And I play the guitar poorly.

Money can’t buy me talent or a personality. It does buy me friends. I would give anything to be something cool like my siblings.

“Ugh! I’m so boring! I have a pretty face but boring. I need something cool. Hmm. Maybe Lila can give me a makeover and she can Youtube it. I bet that would be cool. I can’t go another school year being boring. Maybe a hair?”

“Whatcha think, Dakota? Should I get a haircut or something?”

“Arf!”

“Maybe a new hairstyle then. I dunno if I’ll look right with a haircut. I need something, girl.”

“Arf! Arf!”

I went to Lila’s room hoping she could help me. She was busy at her computer but I felt I should bother her anyway.

“Hey sis, maybe you can give me a little makeover and you can record it for your channel?”

“What?”

“Give me a makeover. Please?”

“I would but I’m busy editing a video. I got a schedule ya know.”

“So that’s a no? Really? Tomorrow is the first day of school. I could really use one.”

“I tried once before but you ran away.”

“You wanted to give me a mohawk!”

“It would have been cool.”

“No! You can do my hair but no mohawks, Lila! I’m serious.”

“I wish I could Nay-Nay but I got so much to do. Maybe ask Flo?”

I headed to Flo’s room, she’s our live-in nanny and housekeeper. I wasn’t shocked by the actions between my dad and Flo. This has been going on for years but we pretend to be clueless about it.

“Borage, no. I gotta pick up my room.”

“C’mon, you can do that later.”

“But I can’t. Your wife is home.”

“She’s busy.”

When they think they are alone, they aren’t. Usually, I or my siblings would see our dad fooling around with Flo. I just wish they would hide their affair better than this. What teen wants to see their dad have sex with another woman when he’s married to my mom. This situation is crazy.

“Just a little quickie. I miss you.”

“I miss you too but it’s not right when your wife is home.”

“When is it ever right?”

“It’s never right, Dad.”

I hid behind the car as my dad left the garage. I waited for Flo to return to her room before speaking to her. Why am I not mad at them? Cause my parents’ marriage was an arrangement done by my uncle Cergio. My mom loved my dad but my dad never loved her. My dad fooled around a lot. I don’t like it but that’s how things are. I like Flo, she’s like a mother to us. Honestly, she has been more of a mother to us than my mom has. Mom is busy a lot with recording, tours, and shows.

“Flo can you help me with something?”

“Sure, like what?”

“A makeover. I’m boring and I wanna stand out tomorrow at school. I don’t want to be my plain Jane self again like I was last year.”

“Lanai sweetie, you’re not boring or plain Jane. You’re very beautiful and talented. I heard you play the guitar and you’re sounding better each time you play. There’s no need to stand out. You’re perfect as you are.”

“You really think so? I think I suck at playing the guitar. It’s not like I’ll be a rockstar like my parents but I guess I’ll keep trying.”

“Maybe I can find a teacher for you. How would you like that?”

“Oh cool! I’ll like that a lot if you think I can play.”

“You know you can play. You need some confidence. Just believe in yourself and you’ll find that you can do many other things.”

Feeling good about myself, I headed up to the park near with my siblings Liam, Lila, Luna, and Bora. It was a nice evening out and our last day of summer vacation.

“A game of chess?”

“So I can lose?”

“That would be the point.”

“Ha! I think I can beat you this time.”

“You think so?”

“I’m a believer.”

“You’re on.”

“I caught dad and Flo again.”

“Where at this time?”

“Garage.”

“I wouldn’t do that.”

“Shut up! Don’t help me, Liam.”

“Mom was home?”

“Either Dad is getting bolder or doesn’t care anymore.”

“He’s really not careful.”

“You think Mom knows?”

“Of course Mom knows. She’s not dumb or anything. Mom just doesn’t care.”

“How do you know this, Lila?”

“Trust me, Mom knows.”

“She’s right. They didn’t get married for love, it was a contract.”

“Move that piece.”

“Don’t help her!”

“Thanks, sis.”

“Anyway, Mom knows Dad cheats. We know the truth about Luna and Bora. Our parents never hired a surrogate mother to have the twins. Dad had a girlfriend who was the mother and she was killed in a car accident. Cergio was the one who made the cover story.”

“You really believe it was an “accident”?”

“Don’t start with the conspiracies, Lila. Total accident!”

“I believe Uncle Cergio was behind it.”

“Lila, our uncle is not a murderer. Stop it.”

“You never know, Brother.”

Lila and I sat down on the deck while Liam played with Luna and Bora. My leg hung down above the pond and trill my leg in a circle as I watched my reflection.

“Still want that makeover?”

“Nah, I think I’ll be fine. I talked to Flo and she gave me some much needed confidence.”

“You sure? You can make a bold statement with a mohawk.”

“Mom would freak.”

“Totally.”

“So you’re gonna be okay?”

“Yeah, I was just a little dramatic.”

“Cool. I think Uncle Cergio is behind that missing woman mystery. I bet he knows where Shila Shlio is.”

“Lila, stop it! Ha ha ha.”

“I’m serious! Why does he have a lake house in Auberon that he won’t let anyone go see. That woman is there.”

“You and your conspiracies about Cergio. Ha ha ha!”
